North Carolina: Enoch Moore and Elizabeth (Albritton) Moore of Pitt County, NC

 

Our Moore Family in Pitt County ~ There are several Moore families in Pitt County, NC and the following applies to the family of Enoch Moore.

Jacob Moore was a landowner in Pitt County, NC as early as 1738. Jacobs son, Henry Moore, was born circa 1745 and died in 1829. His wife's name was Mary.

Henry Moore (1745 - 1829) had the following children: Benjamin, Reddick (or Redding), Judith, Susannah, and a daughter who married Ormond Cherry.

Benjamin Moore (circa 1770 - circa 1837) married first, Patsy Eason, daughter of Bennett Eason. They had one child named Lydia who married Clifton James.

Benjamin Moore's second wife was Martha Bowers (born circa 1784). Their children were: James Ashley, Enoch (1814 - 1875), Randolph, Henry B., Samuel, and David.

Enoch Moore lived on the north side of the Tar River and on the south side of Grindle Creek adjoining the Banks Road, the Tarboro Road and the Greenville Road. Flyer below is for the sale of his land after his death by his son, James L. Moore.

James L. Moore married Sarah Penelope Brown Short and they lived on the Brown property in Greenville.

Enoch Moore was son of Benjamin Moore and wife, Martha Bowers, of Pitt Co., NC. Enoch was born in 1814 and died in September of 1875. Enoch Moore married Elizabeth Eleanor Albritton, daughter of Mr. Albritton and Miss Bell, his wife. Elizabeth was born November 28, 1819 and died prior to 1870.

The children of Enoch and Elizabeth Moore were: Martha Ann, Tabitha Albritton, James Llewellyn, Enoch, Elizabeth Eleanor, Henry Bell, Annie Melissa, Samuel Benjamin, and stillborn twins in 1861.
