Cordal Norfleet Fluellen married Mary Ann Edwards, the daughter of Matthew and Sallie Edwards (all of Nash County, NC) on March 16, 1843. They had two children: Matthew George Ellen and Mary Elizabeth Ellen, but Mary Ann died soon after - at least prior to June 3, 1848 when Cordie married Martha Richard Manning.
I don't have a photo of Mary Ann, but her daughter, Mary Elizabeth Ellen's, photos are below. Mary Ann's son, Matthew George Ellen was born about 1845 and died about 1860.
It seems that Mary Ann's children probably went to live with their mother's parents and Mom and I knew almost nothing about them until Julia Timberlake, their descendant, very kindly provided information and allowed me to copy her family photographs.
Cordal Norfleet Fluellen, also known as Cordie Ellen and C.N.F. Ellen, was the son of Loderick Fluellen and his wife, Mary Hunter, all of Nash County, NC. C.N.F. Ellen was born April 15, 1821 and died May 12, 1896 and is interred at the Ellen Family Cemetery in Dortches, Nash Co., NC.
Mary Elizabeth Ellen and her husband, Philemon Edgar Edwards with three of their seven children: Richard Thomas (Dick), Mary Elizabeth (Lizzie), and James (Jim).
Marriage record: Mary E. F. Ellen, daughter of C.N.F. Ellen and Mary F. Ellen, married Philemon Edwards, son of Edwin Edwards and Catherine Edwards, on Nov. 11, 1868, in Nash Co., NC.
Mary Elizabeth Ellen was born October 17, 1947 (April 1848 per her death certificate) and died June 17, 1925. Her son, George Solomon Edwards, provided the information for her death certificate.
