ALLEN C. PERRY

Allen C. Perry was born in Dunn's District in the year 1801 which makes him just 70 years old, in 1822 he moved to his present home, 3 miles east from Franklinton, on the Louisburg and Franklinton road. Mr. Perry, before the war, took great interest in politics, he was a Jacksonian Democrat, and the candidate of opposite politics always dreaded him. Of great will and energy, his influence was always felt for his party. Since the war he has lived in quiet at his country home, he like a great many of our citizens lost heavily by the war, and the blow fallen upon him in his old age, in a measure paralized his energy, but thus far he has weathered the storm. He mixes but little in politics, but on election days, he is always found at the polls, and voting against ignorance, oppression and corruption.

He was married in October 1827 to Miss Elizabeth Person. They lived together until last year when the All wise dispenser of events took from him his companion…. Mr. Perry was a magistrate for about 20 years and a member of the Board of Wardens for 14 years. He composed one of the committees who divided this county into school districts. He was also one of the founders of Perry Chapel Baptist Church of which he has been a member for the past 40 years. He has raised 8 children and has 30 grandchildren. May he be long spared to this country.
