Samuel Jordan F. Ellen was a son of Cordal N.F. Ellen and his second wife, Martha Richard Manning. Samuel was born Feb. 9, 1866 and died July 21, 1929. He married Celia Ann Griffin. Celia was born Oct. 18, 1870 and died Aug. 12, 1953. Both Sam Ellen and his wife, Celia, were interred at the Ellen Family Cemetery in Dortches, Nash Co., NC.

Some of the children (the eldest) of Sam and Celia (Griffin) Ellen are shown in the photo below: Anna Ellen, born 1892; Martha Josephine Ellen, born 1894; Mabel Ellen, born 1896; George Lester Ellen, born 1898. The other children of Sam and Celia Ellen were Samuel James Ellen, born 1903; Tempie Estelle Ellen, born 1905; Mary Louise Ellen, born 1908; and Ruth Elizabeth Ellen, born 1911.
