Corydon Perry Spruill, Sr., the son of William Durham Spruill and Frances A. (Perry) Spruill, was born in 1862 and died in 1945. He married, Nov. 11, 1896, Sallie Richard Short, the daughter of Richard Short and Sarah Penelope (Brown) Short. Sallie, or Sadie, was the half-sister of Lillie Olivia Moore who married Corydon's brother, George Edward Spruill. Sadie was born Jan. 1868 in Pitt Co. and died Nov. 1949 in Raleigh, NC. They had one child who survived to adulthood, Corydon Perry Spruill, Jr.
